Blue Chalcedony

Uniquely combined into our jewellery, the enchanting pastel shades of Blue Chalcedony radiate a cool and serene quality that looks striking paired with sterling silver. Chalcedony is a member of the quartz family, a sibling to other gemstones like Amethyst, Citrine and Aventurine but evokes a completely unique and magical soft blue translucence that is believed to bring peace and balance to the wearer.

In the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Greece and Rome, the wealthy used varieties of Blue Chalecdony in their jewellery as they believed it to hold certain powers while other cultures knew it as the Speaker’s Stone because of its ability to encourage and ease communication. Some actors and singers would rub it against their lips and throats or would drink a glass of water which had been soaked with Blue Chalcedony before performing to overcome stage fright. The great Roman orator, Cicero, was also said to have worn Blue Chalcedony around his neck and so it became known as a gemstone of luxury.

When Blue Chalcedony is polished it seems to exhibit a majestic glow that emanates from within and in our workshops in Ashbourne, Derbyshire we have crafted and polished this gemstone to incredibly high standards to create exquisite and mesmerising pieces of jewellery. Since all our Blue Chalcedony jewellery is made in house, they can be set alongside different varieties of metal and stone depending on your taste and requirements.
